In our Unity-powered game, you become a potato stranded in the depths of a fridge. Surrounded by other food items, you must fight your way to the front of the fridge to escape your impending fate. Along the way, you’ll learn about memory and the importance of minimising food waste.

Background
Our project began with the keyword "forgotten corner", which led us to consider a place that is often overlooked and taken for granted: the refrigerator at home. Thinking about the lifestyle of international students, we noticed that cooking is not a frequent activity that they do daily. As a result, a lot of ingredients are left untouched in the corner of the refrigerator and might have exceeded their use-by date. This made us realize that food waste is an issue we face every day. It is a global problem that has been created by our everyday actions.

About the Game

In this game, you'll step into the shoes of Yining, an average college student who is always busy with classes, socializing, and everyday tasks. However, Yining has a bad habit of forgetting about the food in her refrigerator, which leads her to waste the ingredients.

The story is set in a modestly furnished apartment, and there's a secret lurking in the corner of the refrigerator. When Yining carelessly wastes food, she unwittingly gets embroiled in a harrowing adventure. As a consequence of her actions, she is transformed into a potato! Now, she must escape as quickly as possible from the refrigerator before being forever transformed into a rotten potato that is destined for the trash.

The actual purpose of this game is to create awareness about food waste as an irresponsible act on the environment and resources. As players explore different areas of the refrigerator, they will learn about the consequences of food waste and discover ways to reduce it in their daily lives. In the process of escaping, players must avoid various obstacles on the road, but be careful not to be attacked by spoiled food, as they will accelerate your decay.
